WHAT DINA THINKS: The Dubai International Holy Quran Award

The revered Dubai International Holy Quran Award has once again opened its doors to seekers of Quranic mastery, setting the stage for a momentous event that honors dedication, commitment, and knowledge. As reported by the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the competition is a pinnacle for those devoted to memorizing the Quran, catering to various categories that represent the diverse levels of expertise and commitment.

The competition encompasses six distinct categories, each a testament to the multifaceted journey of Quranic memorization. Ranging from memorizing the entire Quran to segments as detailed as 3 Juzes, the categories provide an opportunity for individuals of varying proficiency to showcase their dedication to the sacred text.

To partake in this prestigious event, non-citizens under 25 years old with a valid UAE residence permit are eligible. Additionally, individuals from the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council countries can participate if they possess permanent residency in the UAE. A vital stipulation is that applicants should not have previous wins in the Dubai International Holy Quran Award or the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak International Holy Quran Competition.

Counselor Ibrahim Mohammed Bu Melha, advisor to the ruler of Dubai for cultural and humanitarian affairs, highlighted the profound significance of the Sheikha Hind Bint Maktoum Holy Quran Competition. This competition, integral to the series of Quranic competitions organized by the Dubai Holy Quran Award, aims to support and acknowledge citizens and residents of the UAE who have committed the Quran to memory. It aspires not only to encourage recitation but also to deepen understanding of its teachings.

The road to recognition involves a series of steps. After the nomination period, selected participants will undergo final exams scheduled between January 6th and January 13th, 2024, at designated venues in Dubai. The closing ceremonies and the awarding of the winners are scheduled for January 16 and 17, separating the male and female categories.

The Dubai International Holy Quran Award stands as a testament to the dedication and scholarly pursuit of Quranic understanding and memorization. With its diverse categories, it not only celebrates the accomplishment of memorization but also fosters a deeper connection to the sacred text. The event is a testimony to the commitment and devotion of individuals toward the Quran, recognizing their efforts to preserve its teachings.

As the competition embarks on another journey, it upholds the virtues of reverence, scholarship, and commitment to the holy words of the Quran, inspiring participants to continue their noble pursuit of understanding and embodying its teachings.
