WHAT DINA THINKS: Vitol Pioneers Eco-Friendly Deliveries in Fujairah

Hi expats! Do you know about this company called Vitol?

It's the leading Swiss energy and commodities company that marked a significant milestone by completing its inaugural biofuel deliveries in Fujairah, UAE. The company's wholly-owned bunker arm, Vitol Bunkers, orchestrated the delivery of B24 VLSFO (Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil) to two vessels on December 8th and 14th. These fuels, sourced from Vitol’s Fujairah-based refinery FRL, were blended with locally-sourced biofuels at VTTI storage facilities.

Certified biofuels are on the horizon as game-changers in decarbonizing the maritime sector, long deemed difficult to transition. They hold immense promise in curbing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, particularly once shipping joins the European Union’s Emissions Trading System (ETS) in 2024, effectively showcasing zero CO2 emissions.

Vitol Bunkers extended gratitude to the port of Fujairah and the UAE government for their forward-thinking sustainable policies, pivotal in enabling the successful biofuel delivery.

Vitol's pioneering biofuel deliveries in Fujairah underscore the company's proactive stance in seeking eco-friendly solutions in the energy sector. By embracing biofuels and aligning with sustainable policies, Vitol reaffirms its dedication to curbing carbon emissions and spearheading renewable energy initiatives. This achievement stands as a testament to Vitol’s commitment to a greener, more sustainable future.
