UAE Applauds Ceasefire in Gaza, Calls for Lasting Peace and Humanitarian Support

The United Arab Emirates has welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, marking a significant step toward de-escalating tensions in the region. The agreement includes the release of detainees, hostages, and captives, offering hope for an end to the ongoing crisis.

UAE’s Support for Mediation Efforts

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, praised the mediation efforts led by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States in brokering the ceasefire. He acknowledged their critical role in fostering dialogue and achieving this pivotal agreement.

“Sheikh Abdullah expressed his aspirations for the agreement to alleviate suffering, prevent further loss of life, and bring an end to the tragic conditions in Gaza,” according to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Humanitarian Priorities

The UAE emphasized the urgent need for sustainable and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians affected by the prolonged crisis in Gaza. With over 15 months of critical humanitarian conditions, Sheikh Abdullah called on the international community to prioritize efforts that address the needs of vulnerable populations.

Advocating for a Two-State Solution

Reiterating the UAE’s long-standing position, Sheikh Abdullah underscored the importance of advancing the Middle East peace process. He called for ending practices that undermine the two-state solution and advocated for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, emphasizing the UAE’s commitment to peace, justice, and the rights of the Palestinian people.

A Step Toward Stability

This ceasefire agreement represents a critical moment in the efforts to resolve the Gaza crisis. By calling on both parties to adhere to their commitments, the UAE is urging all stakeholders to work toward sustainable solutions that ensure long-term stability and peace in the region.

The UAE’s role in welcoming this agreement and championing humanitarian efforts highlights its dedication to fostering dialogue, supporting vulnerable communities, and building a foundation for peace and justice in the Middle East.
