UAE leaders extend warm congratulations to Greek President on Independence Day

Hi expats! Dina here. My weekend blog is something of another good news, involving Russia and Ukraine. Yes, you read that right!  Amid the persisting conflict between Ukraine and Russia, a MILESTONE happened as the two countries announced their largest prisoner swap since the start of the war in 2021. The exchange was orchestrated by the UAE and it saw the return of over 200 soldiers from each side, marking a crucial diplomatic effort amidst ongoing hostilities. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy took to social media to share the news, stating, “230 of our people. Today, 213 soldiers and sergeants, 11 officers, and six civilians returned home.” Russia's defense ministry echoed the sentiment, confirming the return of 248 Russian prisoners of war from Ukraine.
