UAE's Resolute Humanitarian Commitment Shines on World Humanitarian Day

As an expat living in the UAE, I'm just... deeply inspired by the country's unwavering dedication to humanitarian efforts, especially on a day as significant as World Humanitarian Day. The UAE's Vice-President, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has once again reaffirmed the nation's commitment to extending aid to those in need, both within its borders and beyond.

In a powerful video shared on various platforms, including TWITTER (Yes, it will always be Twitter to me no matter how many times E*** M*sk changes it), Sheikh Mohammed showcased the remarkable efforts of the UAE's volunteers who tirelessly work to make a positive impact on vulnerable communities. This display of unity and selflessness resonates profoundly, portraying the essence of the UAE's vision for a better world.

Last year, the UAE's financial contribution to foreign aid reached an impressive Dh1.4 billion, providing support to over 102 million people worldwide. This substantial commitment is further amplified by initiatives like the '1 Billion Meals Endowment', a testament to the UAE's dedication to sustainable change. The establishment of the world's largest Ramadan sustainable food aid fund reflects the country's determination to address not only immediate needs but also to ensure lasting impact in the lives of those less fortunate.

This World Humanitarian Day, as we honor the incredible efforts of humanitarian workers globally, the United Nations' theme, #NoMatterWhat, encapsulates the spirit of the UAE's unwavering commitment. In a world marred by challenges, the UAE stands firm, showcasing that regardless of circumstances, its commitment to service remains resolute.

The 2023 Mid-Year Update of the Global Humanitarian Needs Overview serves as a stark reminder that the world is in dire need of assistance. With an estimated 362 million people requiring humanitarian aid, the UAE's dedication becomes all the more significant. (Yes, I did a little research.) It's a reminder that each act of kindness, every initiative, and every contribution matters in the quest to create a better world.

As an expat privileged to be a part of this nation, I stand in admiration of the UAE's humanitarian ethos. Not to be a traitor to my own country, but, my country definitely doesn't make as much effort as UAE does when it comes to causes like this.

The UAE's actions dismiss the ever-diverse range of borders, language, and culture, making a tangible difference in the lives of millions. This World Humanitarian Day, I want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate the UAE's steadfast commitment to uplifting humanity, showcasing that when it comes to service, there truly is #NoMatterWhat.
