WHAT DINA THINKS: The Sharjah Events Festival 2023

Hey expats! Hope you’re staying warm this cold season!

I’m here to tell you about some events brewing in the heart of Sharjah. A vibrant celebration unfolded at the third edition of the Sharjah Events Festival, igniting the spirit of culture, entertainment, and unity. Officially inaugurated by Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, this four-day extravaganza enchanted visitors from far and wide, beckoning them to ‘See Sharjah’ in all its glory.

The festival, held at the captivating Al Majaz Amphitheatre, showcased a tapestry of thrilling activities and engaging events catering to people of all ages. Thirty different entities, comprising government, semi-government, and private institutions, collaborated to curate a dynamic experience brimming with cultural showcases and interactive platforms.

Upon his arrival, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed set the stage aglow, initiating the inaugural show and mesmerizing laser displays that marked the beginning of this cultural feast. He then embarked on a captivating tour, exploring pavilions that unveiled Sharjah’s most cherished tourist destinations and engaging activities designed to captivate the festival-goers.

The festival’s interactive platforms stood as vibrant bridges between participants and audiences, offering not just entertainment but a medium to share profound social messages. These platforms exuded the essence of Sharjah’s culture and its impactful contributions to the emirate’s progress, blending educational insights with engaging elements for diverse age groups.

A highlight of this festive gathering was the diverse array of programs catering to various interests. From culturally immersive events and educational seminars to live food demonstrations and exhibitions showcasing history and folk customs, the festival was a mosaic of entertainment and enlightenment. Dedicated zones for children’s games and culinary delights further enriched the festival experience.

Yet, beyond the festivities, the festival embraced a noble cause, partnering with Sharjah Charity International to launch a charitable campaign aiding the people of Gaza in Palestine. Spread across the festival grounds were 100 collection boxes, beckoning attendees to contribute and support this noble endeavor.

The presence of prominent figures like Sheikh Salem bin Muhammad bin Salem Al Qasimi, Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, Ali Salem Al Midfa, and other high-ranking officials underscored the festival’s significance in Sharjah’s cultural tapestry.

As evening descended over four days, the festival not only entertained but also inspired generosity, inviting attendees to be part of a charitable initiative aimed at making a difference in the lives of others.

The Sharjah Events Festival of 2023 stands as a testament to Sharjah’s commitment to diversity, community engagement, and cultural celebration. It wasn’t merely an event; it was a vibrant tapestry woven with the threads of unity, entertainment, and compassion, fostering a deeper connection among the people and the essence of Sharjah.
