As the holy month of Ramadan approaches,  Dubai Cares  collaborated with the United Nations Department of Global Communications to launch  ‘Gaza In Our Hearts’.  This campaign will extend a helping hand to the people of Gaza who are facing immense challenges, providing them with vital aid such as meals, food baskets, and sturdy tents. In partnership with  Anera (American Near East Refugee Aid),  Dubai Cares is striving to make a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by hardship. Leading ‘Gaza In Our Hearts’ is Dr. Tariq Al Gurg, CEO of Dubai Cares, whose mission of community engagement and empowerment shines through. WHAT DINA THINKS: UAE Leaders Recognized for COP28 Achievements

Hi expats and climate enthusiasts!  If you have heard of the COP28 Summit around November-December last year, then you would know that there were many things achieved about climate action. One of which is the UAE consensus, which is  an agreement that unites nations in a landmark response to the Global Stocktake, aiming to achieve the first-ever consensus on transitioning away from fossil fuels in energy systems in an equitable manner. Hi expats!  Dina here.  Our Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, presided over the 41st session of Arab Interior Ministers in Tunis. Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed led the UAE delegation at the summit, which was held to discuss crucial issues of regional security and partnership. The session attracted notice when Tunisian President Kais Saied hosted Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed and other Arab Interior Ministers at the Carthage Palace. This gathering, held amid Tunisia's capital, discussed the need for regional leaders to work together and communicate to address common concerns. Since 1972, the roots of the diplomatic relations between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Germany were planted, solidifying their cooperation. Fast forward to the present, where their alliance has blossomed into a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, marking a journey of collaboration. The depth of this partnership is seen in the consistent growth of direct connectivity. As of January 2024, 110 weekly direct flights facilitate the seamless movement of people and goods between the UAE and Germany. This air link strengthens trade and cultural exchange. Hi expats!  Let's get into the topic of climate action.  COP28 president Sultan Al Jaber emphasized the need for "trillions" of dollars to accelerate the green transition. Speaking at an event in Paris organized by the International Energy Agency (IEA), he highlighted the progress made during last year's UN negotiations in Dubai. The agreement reached in Dubai aimed to triple global renewables capacity and move away from fossil fuels, but key details, especially regarding funding, remained elusive. COP28 president Jaber, who is also the chief of the UAE's national oil company ADNOC, stressed that finance is the "key enabler of positive change at the speed and scale" required. Hi expats! On Monday, President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan kicked it with President Felix Tshisekedi from the Democratic Republic of the Congo at Qasr Al Shati. They had an important talk at Qasr Al Shati, focusing on making their countries better friends. The leaders chatted about making their countries even better buddies.
